Things to See and Do

Tinchebray and the Normandy region provide many wonderful distractions. Below are some favourite ideas of our own:

Tinchebray has traditional French shops, boulangeries, patisseries as well as a large supermarket.

There are several good markets, notably Flers and Sourdeval. Have lunch in Sourdeval and listen to the farmers talking!

Eating and Drinking

Tinchebray has several bars, restaurants and cafes. There is a very good typically Norman restaurant called 'Le Relais', used extensively by the locals for lunch.

If you want something more sophisticated, there are good restaurants in Vire (about 10 miles away) and Domfront (about 7 miles).

Recreation and Days Out

There are good swimming beaches near Granville, about an hour and a quarter's drive away.

Also public swimming pools in nearby Flers and Vire.

Horse trotting races are a feature of the locality and there are regular fixtures throughout the season.

There are zoos within easy driving distance, such as 'Zoo Champrepus' and 'Zoo De Jurques'. Further afield there is the 'Parc Zoologique Lisieux'.

There is also 'La Village Enchante', where the whole family can spend the day with a picnic, enjoying what the park has to offer: boats, a roller skating rink, bouncy castles, a small farm, ride on a small train, high wires, tree walks and much more..

Horse riding is available nearby, and golf courses are within easy reach.

Cycling is a joy on the quiet roads. We provide four bicycles, located in the shed.
